Do we both need the app?
Just open Chirp in the browser on both phones. There’s nothing to install. The listening phone needs microphone permission; each person connects a wallet to receive or pay.
Does the money travel through sound?
The sound carries a short payment-request code. Chirp looks up the details online, and you approve the payment in your wallet. Your funds move on Solana, and your private keys never travel through the sound.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. Both phones need internet to look up the request and confirm the payment. For the clearest chirp, keep them close together and turn up the receiving phone’s speaker volume.
What does a payment cost?
Chirp adds no platform fee. Solana network fees apply and are paid in SOL. A USDC payment can also require a one-time network deposit to create the recipient’s token account. Review the transaction in your wallet before approving.
